Module 1: Overview of the COID legislation

  • Protection of employers against claims from employees and dependants

 

Module 2: Employers; Licensees; contractors and sub-contractor’s

  • Employer criteria and registration

  • Licensees

  • Registration of contractors and sub-contractors

  • Letters of good standing

 

Module 3: Who qualifies for compensation

  • Right to compensation

  • Criteria for employees and dependants

 

Module 4: Occupational accidents and diseases 

  • Criteria for occupational accidents

  • Travelling to and from work

  • Criteria for occupational diseases

  • Accidents during training or performance of emergency services

  • Accidents outside the republic

 

Module 5: Assessment tariffs and payments to the Compensation Fund 

  • Current assessment tariffs

  • Return of Earnings (ROE)

  • Proposed regulations - new assessment model (tariffs & rates)

  • Rebates to employers

 

Module 6: Calculation of earnings, selection of medical service providers and accounts

Module 9: Practical session (explanation and demonstration)

  • Electronic functions for Medical Service Provider via Umehluko

 

Purpose of the Course:

To explain the legal requirements stipulated by the COID Act in an easy understandable manner. This course provides a detailed explanation; step by step guides and examples on the different processes and procedures to follow when dealing with the administration of occupational injuries and diseases.

 

Course includes an explanation and practical demonstration of the Umehluko System as well as the identification of problems and the completion of the prescribed forms.
