Labour Guide Forum Flourishing – a Huge Success

As most of you are aware, we at Labour Guide recently introduced our free advice forum on our website. The forum has proved to be extremely popular - and it has sections for enquiries from employers, a section for enquiries from employees, enquiries in connection with the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, and enquiries from employers or employees in connection with health and safety.

The reason why we turned from direct e-mail enquiries to a public forum is because nearly every question received is of wide interest to many employers, and is usually in connection with a problem that is experienced by many employers. By using a public forum, the question and answer is available to any person surfing the forum.

Since inception, enquiries have been sent in covering 4055 different topics or enquiries, with 7406 members anda total of 10030 posts. The Labour Guide team consists of Andre, Armand, Tinus, Renier and Nicolene. All members of the team access the forum daily, and give answers to as many enquiries as possible.

The subject matter dealt with covers almost every problem you can think of that might arise in employment situations - anything from late coming to strikes and other matters in between. The advice given by the Labour Guide team is usually basic advice designed to steer the enquirer in the right direction, and if further advice is required that the enquirer is free to contact us direct and arrange for a consultation.

Obviously, the forum is not designed to handle a complete case on the forum, and is not intended to be a means to assess the merits of a complete case - for that sort of enquiry, a proper consultation must be arranged. The forum is intended to be the starting point - way and the employer or employee sends in sufficient detail of the problem to enable us to know what it is about - so that we in turn can give a proper answer and the employee your employer can then make an informed decision as to how to proceed.

Vague or very broad general questions can only be given a vague or broad general answer - which does not help very much. So remember in your enquiry is to give us sufficient detail to enable us to give you an informed reply. We encourage you to make use of the forum - it is a free service, which is there for your benefit. If you wish to remain anonymous, that does not present a problem.

You simply use a fictitious name , and for employees who do not wish the employer to know that they have sought advice, simply use a fictitious name and do not mention the name of your employer in your enquiry. Employers who wish to remain anonymous simply also use a fictitious name and do not identify the name of your company in your enquiry.

You don’t have to register on the forum to read or search for content.

Looking forward to meeting you on the forum.
