    Purpose of the workshop:

     

    The workshop is intended to be interactive and will equip Human Resources Practitioners and other relevant parties with a good understanding of skills development and the need for workplace implementation of skills development initiatives. The need for ongoing skills development is essential and the regulations are continually changing.

     

    Companies must be seen to be active in regard to skills development in order to access discretionary funding from the SETA’s and are now required to submit minutes of skills development forum meetings when applying for funding.

     

    The need to conduct skills audits so as to establish skills gaps as well as the need to review all company policies and procedures that might negatively impact on skills development is a requirement of the EE Act.

     

    On completion of the workshop delegates will have a thorough understanding of:

     

    • The SDA, SDLA, NQFA and the EEA
    • Recent legislative changes related to skills development, the SETAs and QCTO
    • The function, duties and responsibilities of forum members
    • The structure of qualifications both current and future
    • How to put skills development to work in the workplace
    • Role of the SDF, WSP’s and ATR
    • Needs analysis, skills gaps and recognition of prior learning (RPL)
    • Strategic partnerships with TVET colleges
    • Re-designing job profiles in relation to EE requirements
